What is a double rebated door?

The term “Double rebate” is thrown around a lot within the composite door industry, but what does it really mean?

Quite simply put, a double rebated door has two seals, one making contact with the outside of the door and one on the inside. This adds twice the defence against the wind and rain when compared to a single rebate door, as even if the water and wind get through the outside seal, they still have to penetrate the inside seal. That’s what makes double rebated composite doors seriously tough and resistant to even extreme weather conditions, which is why we especially recommend them for particularly remote locations such as coastal facing or hilly properties.

Does Apeer make rebated doors?

Yes. Our standard composite doors are 70mm thick double rebated doors. This provides added protection and defence for those who need it for their front and back door.

What are the benefits of a rebated door?

A rebated door offers:

  • Improved insulation
  • Better protection in harsh weather conditions
  • Improved draught resistance
  • Better U-values compared to other doors

Can I get rebated double doors?

We can build rebated double doors to spec. You would typically buy two single rebated doors with fixtures and fitting complemented on either side. Anyone looking for a quote will be matched with an approved local retailer who can help you figure out what your options are.

Do rebated doors need special frames?

No. Apeer doors typically come with complimentary frames. Again, you’ll be able to learn more about what needs done for a safe and sound installation from your local supplier.
